You have been running a website for a while, and the resources you use to keep the website going come from your own pockets. Or maybe your website is your source of income. If you would like some extra income, using your website you can try to enter the business of affiliate marketing and also you can use Google Adsense for your website. First of all affiliate marketing is a form of business that has been running on the internet for a couple of years with great success. In this scheme, an affiliate brings visitors and customers to a merchant website. The affiliate gets a compensation defined between the two parties, for every number of hits or sales. The affiliate promotes and refers a product on his website with articles and ads; once a potential customer is referred to the merchant then the affiliate receives compensation. There are several ways on how the compensations are given their money. The most common methods are pay-per-click in which the affiliate gets compensated once a referrer visits one of the merchant ads.  Then there is the pay-per-lead method, in which the referrer has to fill out an information form. Finally one of the main ones is pay-per-sale, which is pretty obvious; the affiliate gets money for every purchase by the referrer. There are several more methods however these are the most used in the business. The way affiliates use to make referrers is attracting traffic to their site, and then referring them to the merchant’s. Therefore a website with lots of information that can generate high amounts of traffic can be ideal for affiliate marketing.

Now another way of making money through a website can be Google Adsense. In a simple explanation, Adsense is Google’s affiliate marketing program. But in this case Google has the biggest search engine that attracts lots of traffic, so Google acts as an third party between the affiliate and the merchant. The merchant signs into Google’s services and creates a small advertisement for his product. The ads appear in the result’s page of a search engine, but also on the website of anyone that has signed into Adsense. Although these sounds pretty much as an affiliate marketing program, Adsense has many advantages. First of all, you just need to add a code to your website, provided by Google, and then they do the rest of the dirty business. Also when you sign in, you fill out some information about your site, so that the ads on the site are relevant with the content if the site. Adsense compensates using the pay-per-click system, meaning that for every person that clicks a Google ad on your site, you will get money. You can monitor every time someone clicks on one of the ads, making it very convenient. At the end of the day if you already have a website why not using one of these programs to earn some extra profit? It’s something you already have available, and it can provide you with the extra cash you need to keep the website running or to do anything else you would like.
